This is a small tutorial on how i color with pencil colors, you may think it's long but the result is very pleasing :P
1- First thing you need to draw\ sketch what you want to color
try something simple so you don't get tired of coloring :P
2- Second, after finishing the sketch, ink the drawing using
any type of pen you prefer and wait for it till it dries off completely
3- Now after we left it to dry, erase the pencil lines to have a clean drawing
ready to be colored
4- first step in coloring, you have to start with lighter colors then dark colors
am using this blue for the base coloring of the bird,
DO NOT PRESSURE WHILE COLORING THE BASE
so later on you can add different shades and adding shadow
5- Start adding a darker shade of blue using it around the edges only,
in this step you will need to add little pressure while coloring but not too much
you will color from the edge to the inside while lighting the pressure as you get to the face, and this is what you do when shading cause you don't want to end with a fake un-smooth looking shadow
6- Again adding a darker blue, same step with a different shade,
in the first photo you can not see it clearly, and may seem like not important step,
but then when adding colors it will look smoothly shaded
7- Adding more shadow to the bird, around the edges, around the eyes and the bird's peak, when adding shadow, you can choose various type of colors, do not stick to one color, like using the blue and all of it shades, you can add dark purple, or dark green or anything els depend on your liking, but here am looking for a vivid look, so am using blue and little of dark purple
8- Adding few feathers using dark shades by drawing only lines using three shades of dark blue
and at the end it will look like this
10- Now we are going to fill the white areas using previous used colors with light pressure , if you are using normal A4 you won't be facing this problems, because the paper's surface is smooth { added plush and eyes and colored the peak }
11- Adding more shadow
here you want to show a little more shadow than other places
just to give it a nice look :)
so this is how i color my drawings, it takes A LOT of TIME :P but worth it
do the same steps with the colors you like to finish coloring your drawing !
